some useful information we could use.
  1. Green house effect has affected the way business trades. There are increasing demands of environment friendly products. Example using hybrid cars and paper bags instead of plastic bags.
  2. There are increase emphasis on environmental footprints and sustainability.
  3. There are legislations being enacted related to environment. This forces the business to change its policies (the way they do business) and disposal costs to business like restoration of site.view-

List the materials you receive regularly from suppliers, how the materials are delivered, and any other relevant information, for example, how they are produced and packaged. Think about any aspect of the materials that may have an eco-efficiency impact and identify your priorities for action. Dealing with suppliers who operate eco-efficiently allows you to offer and promote a full eco-efficient service to your customers.

Our Focus Areas
Comprehensive assessments let us recognize environmental efforts that are important to stakeholders and that can drive business success. Internal interviews, external benchmarking, best practice reviews and value proposition evaluation led to this key strategic priority.
  • Sustaining access to potable water
Access to clean water is one of the main global health issues we face today, one that may become more critical in coming years due to the changing climate. There is also growing consensus that sustainable access to safe water supply will be further challenged by overuse, population growth, economics and politics, individuals and public sector as well as the private sector will be faced with risks.
While Inter Ocean's use of water in operations is relatively low compared to some industries, responsible water management is an important element of our strategy. We hope to decrease water use, assessing the company's global impact and looking for opportunities to expand their responsibility in addressing this world health issue.
Some Points that could be Included into our Introduction

While they are proud of initiatives to ensure full compliance with legal requirements and many achievements over the years, our Environmental Sustainability Programme is designed to develop a more integrated and strategic approach. These are among actions under way:
  • Setting near-term and longer-range priorities for environmental activities with guidance from business partners and stakeholders
  • Communicating and engaging with stakeholders on issues and progress
  • Maintaining a foundation that aligns with Inter Ocean's overall Corporate Responsibility pledge to reduce the environmental impact globally

Information and communication technology has tremendous potential to aid businesses and societies to dramatically reduce their impact on the environment through solutions such as smarter grids, buildings, logistical systems, motors, and virtualization.
Yet as the ICT industry grows rapidly, a sustainable industrial-societal system (or s-cycle) is required. One in which, for example, the waste products of one industry or sector become value-added inputs for another. With a holistic approach we must continue to work — within the nexus of policy, design, re-use, recycling and capacity building — to grow global capacity for development of practicable but science-based solutions to the e-waste problem. Examples for Strategies that we can use

Approach
True to the tradition of the Tata Group, Tata Motors is committed in letter and spirit to Corporate Social Responsibility. It is a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact, and is engaged in community and social initiatives on labour and environment standards in compliance with the principles of the Global Compact. In accordance with this, it plays an active role in community development, serving rural communities adjacent to its manufacturing locations.
Tata Motors believes in technology for tomorrow. We ensure that our products are environmentally sound in a variety of ways. These include reducing hazardous materials in vehicle components, developing extended life lubricants, fluids and using ozone-friendly refrigerants. Tata Motors has been making conscious effort in the implementation of several environmentally sensitive technologies in manufacturing processes.

Tata Motors concern is manifested by a dual approach
  1. Reduction of environmental pollution and regular pollution control drives
  2. Restoration of ecological balance.
Our endeavours towards environment protection are soil and water conservation programmes and extensive tree plantation drives. Tata Motors is committed to restoring and preserving environmental balance, by reducing waste and pollutants, conserving resources and recycling materials.

Restoring Ecological Balance

Tata Motors has set up effluent treatment facilities in its plants, to avoid release of polluted water into the ecosystem. In Pune, the treated water is conserved in lakes attracting various species of birds from around the world thus turning the space into a green belt.
Tree plantation programmes involving villagers and Tata Motors employees, have turned acres of barren village green. Tata Motors has planted as many as 80,000 trees in the works and the township and more than 2.4 million trees have been planted in Jamshedpur region. Over half a million trees have been planted in the Pune region. Tata Motors has directed all its suppliers to package their products in alternate material instead of wood.

Reducing packaging material
Packaging material is used in the distribution of our spare parts and accessories to retailers in Europe. Fluctuating volumes and different shipping styles means that we have a number of ways of packaging these parts.
Despite efforts to standardise our in and outbound flows, we continue to generate packaging waste at our Parts Centres and Dealerships. To reduce this waste we are:
  • Increasing the usage of returnable packaging in inbound supply flows.
  • Standardising shipping pallet boxes through specification agreements with our suppliers. These boxes are then reused for outbound shipping purposes. In FY09, 89% of packaging was either returnable or re-usable packaging. Only 11% of the packaging was from new packaging material, which is 8% lower than in FY06.
  • Continuing to monitor the accuracy of our data to support correct waste declarations by our National Marketing and Sales Companies to their local authorities.
  • Ensuring Kaizen (continuous improvement) of the individual and logistics packaging conditions realising a saving of 173 tonnes in FY09.
